The Detroit Lions held a 20-0 halftime lead over their hated rivals, but the Packers stormed back thanks to a series of mistakes by the Lions. Aided with the help of a phantom face-mask call at the end of regulation, thus extending the game by one play with :00 on the clock, Aaron Rodgers tossed the football about 65 yards in the air for a score, lifting the Pack to a 27-23 victory.
Though the Lions failed to put the nail in the coffin, and the play was spectacular, this is yet another example of why all penalties that don’t require interpretation by an official should be reviewed via the booth. A face-mask is a face-mask is a face-mask, unless it isn’t.
Sorry Lion’s fans. Suicide is not the answer.
