NFL Week One: Best Performers

national football league
The NFL is back! There were a few games that came down to the wire and some come-from-behind victories. Here are your top performers of the week:

New Orleans Quarterback Drew Brees – 28/42 423 yards, 4 TD’s:

Although the Saints lost in heartbreaking fashion, Brees led all statistical categories among quarterback’s for the week. This performance included a 98 yard Touchdown play to his receiver Brandon Cooks. This was the longest play in the NFL since Victor Cruz posted a 99 yard score.

Tampa Bay Bucs Quarterback Jameis Winston –  23/33 281 yards, 4 TD’s 1 INT:

Winston’s sophomore campaign started off phenomenal. He delivered a Buccaneers win, spread the ball around to seven different receivers and showed better rapport with receiver Mike Evans.

Pitt. Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams – 26 carries, 143 rushing yards, 2 TD’s:

Williams picked up right where he left off from last season. The 33-year-old veteran was the lead rusher of the week. Even at the age of 33, still proving he can get the job done when asked upon. He was also second on the team in receptions (6) and targets (9) in the steeler victory.

Kansas City Running Back Spencer Ware – 199 yards all-purpose yards 1 TD:

Ware started for the injured Jamaal Charles. He played a key role in comeback win for the Chiefs. Most of his yards came through the passing game on seven catches.

Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver A.J. Green – 12 receptions, 180 yards 1 TD:

Green had a monstrous day on Revis Island. He burned him for a 54-yard TD reception, which was the highlight of the afternoon. The Bengals would win late for their 1st victory of the year.

Saints Wide Receiver Brandon Cooks – 6 receptions, 143 yards 2 TD’s:

Cooks was incredible Sunday, setting a new career-high in yardage, thanks in part to a 98-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter.
