Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Week 3 Sleepers

Week 2 in the NFL was filled with a series of unfortunate injuries to mainly running backs that crippled lineups for weeks to come. However, here is some help with a few names to target this week on the waivers:

Running Backs:

Jerick McKinnon/Matt Asiata: RB, Minnesota Vikings

Adrian Petterson is looking to be out for several months. Jerick McKinnon is the guy most people will look to and is the better back for PPR. However, Matt Asiata is the bigger back in my mind the better back. Why? He’s a TD vulture which means he may get the goal line touches. Let’s not forget that last season he had three touchdown performance vs the Redskins.

Cameron Artis-Payne/Fozzy Whittaker: RB, Carolina Panthers

Whitaker saw a healthy workload once Jonathan Stewart exited the game. However, the upside belongs with Artis Payne as he’s listed as the starter versus the Minnesota Vikings while Stewart is out. Throughout the week there has been talk about Payne getting at least 15 carries. If you’re in a pinch this week I would grab Payne over Whittaker.

Wide Receivers:

Quincy Enunwa: WR, New York Jets

Enunwa has come on strong as the third receiver for the Jets since so much attention is on Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Marshall is looking like a game-time decision against the Chiefs, so if Enunwa is out there I would grab him. If Marshall is out he’s a high flex play this week.

Phillip Dorsett: WR, Indianapolis Colts

I’ve been high on Dorsett since the pre-season and with the Donte Moncrief injury this has given him a golden opportunity to shine. You need to run not walk because I expect Dorsett to put up numbers at least until Moncrief comes back. If for some insane reason he is still on waivers, go get him now.

Tight End:

Dennis Pitta: TE, Baltimore Ravens

Pitta reeled in nine catches for 102 yards last week. Flacco doesn’t have a deep group of receivers to throw to or a strong running game to fall back on. If he wasn’t scooped up for some reason I would snag him because he has top 5 potential.

My Deep Sleeper of the Week: WR Eddie Royal  (Chicago Bears)

Yes I know the Bears just lost Jay Cutler and they stink. However, Royal will be up against Orlando Scandrick who struggles against receivers that run shorter patterns. Chicago is an underdog as well so that may mean more targets. Royal has played on over 65% of the bears plays and Alshon Jeffrey is listed as questionable with a sore knee.
