In the 23rd round of the Premier League, Chelsea beat Arsenal at the Emirates – 1:0.

After this defeat, Arsenal dropped to third place in the table, having the same number of points as Manchester City (44). Leicester City is the new leader with 47 points.

Chelsea striker, Diego Costa, brought victory team to his team in the 23rd minute, after Ivanovic’s assist. A few minutes before that, Arsenal was left with one less player on the field, because Mertesacker got sent off after fouling Costa in the 19th minute.

Chelsea broke a streak of two games without a win and climbed to 13th place with 28 points.

Wenger has decided to substitute striker Olivier Giroud, for a defender – Gabriel.

Chelsea quickly took the advantage of a an extra player on the field, and came into the lead after 23 minutes. Matic was on the left side, crossing the ball to the center to Costa, who passed it on the opposite end to Ivanovic, who decided to play the double pass and Costa had easily scored.

Chelsea continued to besiege rival’s goal but Cech managed to keep it safe. Arsenal had the greatest opportunity in the end of the first half, when Ramsey passed the ball to Flamini, who was only six meters from the goal, but failed to score.

Alexis Sanchez got back on the pitch after the injury in the 57th minute, but was unable to help his team equalize.

The tempo of the game in the second half was much slower and without a lot of chances. Costa left the game in the 69th minute, while rival supporters were whistling.

“Winning against Arsenal, even at their own stadium is always a special feeling. I think we proved that Chelsea deserves to be higher on the standing and that we can win at least one trophy by the end of the season,” said Matic for the official site of the club.

“This win means a lot to our confidence, as we are not satisfied with our position on the table, but there are still many matches to play,” said Matic.
