‘Concussion’ is the true story about Dr. Bennet Omalu (played by Smith) a forensic neuropathologist who discovers the first case of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in an NFL player while performing an autopsy on Mike Webster, the brilliant Pittsburgh Steelers’ center.
Omalu takes on the might of the NFL to bring the findings to light.
Fast forward to April 2015 and Judge Anita Brody approved a settlement resulting in the NFL having to pay a minimum of $900 million over 65 years. The claim was based on the premise that players had suffered head trauma as a direct result of playing football.
The movie looks to be another Ridley Scott masterpiece.
