The TV network BBC America has just revealed the new trailer and premiere date for one of the best television shows in recent times, “Orphan Black” and it’s upcoming Season 4 that will finally arrive on Thursday, April 14 at 10 p.m.
That’s a major time slot change for the Sci-fi action/dramedy, which aired on Saturdays at 9 p.m. during its first three seasons.
‘Orphan Black’ is perhaps one of the most underrated TV shows currently on air, but thankfully the word has spread in the past year and the cult show keeps gaining more fans everyday.
If you haven’t seen the show you should totally check it out and catch up on the first three seasons of Orphan Black over at BBCAmerica.com in order to be ready for the season 4 premiere.
The show has amazing action sequences, suspense, humor and overall well-written dialogue. It is well known for having actress Tatiana Maslany playing all of the clone characters in the show, with the main ones being Sarah, Cosima, Alison and Helena and because of that impressive work she was nominated at the 67th Prime-time Emmy Awards, in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
With the new trailer and premiere date, the network also reveal the first official synopsis:
“Season four of the drama will see leader-of-the-pack, Sarah, reluctantly return home from her Icelandic hideout to track down an elusive and mysterious ally tied to the clone who started it all – Beth Childs. Sarah will follow Beth’s footsteps into a dangerous relationship with a potent new enemy, heading in a horrifying new direction.
Under constant pressure to protect the sisterhood and keep everyone safe, Sarah’s old habits begin to resurface. As the close-knit sisters are pulled in disparate directions, Sarah finds herself estranged from the loving relationships that changed her for the better.”
Despite the trailer’s oddly energetic soundtrack, none of the clones look happy in the clips as we see Cosima worried about Delphine and Alison packing a gun.
It also appears that, despite being reunited, all is not well with Sarah and Kira as they head into “the black” with Mrs. S. And things also don’t look much better for Helena who is dealing with her pregnancy.
In the clips we see a glimpse at the new clone MK played of course by Tatiana Maslany. According to the network, MK will provide answers to some of the show’s most haunting questions.
There was also a statement from co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson:
“We’re thrilled to be moving forward with season four of the ‘Orphan Black’ saga. Huge thanks to our partners Temple Street Productions, and to BBC America and Space. We’re extremely excited about where our story lines are going, and look forward to riding the rollercoaster with our amazing fans.”
You can watch the haunting new trailer below, which features callbacks to exciting moments from previous seasons, including Rachel’s recovery and the location of Leekie’s body.
Also hints are shared about the importance of Kira Manning resurfacing again in season 4, and those with a quick eye can spot several of the upcoming season’s guest stars.
