After the box office success of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, as the film has already grossed more than $500 million dollars worldwide in just the course of a week, DC Comics has released the full calendar of the next big superhero movies coming our way.
Of course, the studio had previously announced several movie projects in the works back in October, but now we have all the titles and release dates.
- “Suicide Squad – (release date: Aug. 5, 2016)
The film has one of the most impressive casts ever and is also the first superhero movie to focus entirely on the villains, so it will be interesting to see a new concept.
Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
Of course, most of the attention is centered around Jared Leto’s take on arguably the most iconic villain ever The Joker.
2. “Wonder Woman” – (release date: June 23, 2017)
After her stellar appearance in Batman V Superman (seriously if you haven’t seen it you must) Gal Gadot will return as the first major female superhero solo movie (sorry but those Catwoman and Elektra films don’t count).
The film is directed by Patty Jenkins with a screenplay by Jason Fuchs, and stars Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Lucy Davis and Robin Wright.
3. “Justice League Part One” (release date: Nov. 17, 2017)
It doesn’t get any bigger than all of your superheroes coming together, as Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) teaming up to combat the forces of evil.
4. “The Flash” (release date: March 16, 2018)
Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Madame Bovary) will return a third time as the lead for the Flash solo movie.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) have been brought on board to write a treatment for The Flash movie, and Seth Grahame-Smith is directing.
5. “Aquaman” (release date: July 27, 2018).
Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) will take on the superhero first solo film, with James Wan (Furious 7) directing from a script by Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire).
6. “Shazam!” (release date: April 5, 2019)
All that we know so far is that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is attached as the main villain Black Adam in the movie about the young boy with the ability to become a full-fledged superhero with the utterance of a single word.
7. “Justice League Part Two” (release date: June 14, 2019).
The superheroes will team up once again to save the world from the evil menace of rumored villain Darkseid.
8. “Cyborg” (release date: April 3, 2020).
Ray Fisher (“The Astronaut Wives Club”) stars as Victor Stone/Cyborg, a genius teen who — introduced in the “Teen Titans” series — sees most of his body replaced by cybernetic prosthetics after he is mutilated in an ill-advised experiment involving an inter-dimensional portal.
9. “Green Lantern Corps” (release date: June 19, 2020)
There are zero details about this project so far, but the movie is said to incorporate a number of different Green Lantern characters, with John Stewart and Hal Jordan leading the team.
